Empower's new summer campaign, 'Set at 24°C and Save,' aims to reduce energy consumption and bills for its 136,000+ customers. The initiative aligns with Dubai's green economy goals and promotes sustainable cooling practices.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 10 June 2024: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, has launched its annual summer campaign titled 'Set at 24°C and Save.' The campaign, now in its eleventh year, will continue throughout the summer, urging over 136,000 customers to reduce their district cooling energy consumption by setting their air conditioner thermostats to 24°C Auto mode.

The initiative is part of Empower's broader efforts to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. Empower's district cooling services, which consume up to 50% less energy compared to conventional cooling solutions, are already a significant step towards a greener future. However, the company believes that customer participation is crucial in maximizing energy savings and minimizing environmental impact.

H.E. Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in energy consumption. 'We're seeing a growing sense of responsibility among our customers regarding energy consumption. This is a positive trend, as rationalizing energy use should be a shared focus for all of us. As a service provider and alongside our customers, we can make a significant impact by adopting sustainable practices that benefit both our community and future generations,' he said.

Bin Shafar also highlighted that rationalizing cooling energy consumption during the summer season contributes to preserving natural resources and protecting the environment. 'Empower counts on the awareness of its customers to contribute to reducing energy consumption, and it spares no effort in adopting sustainable solutions in line with the 'Green Economy for Sustainable Development' initiative. This initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to combat climate change and ensure a better future for future generations by reducing electricity and water consumption rates. It also seeks to make Dubai a global hub for the green economy and the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050,' he added.

Setting air conditioners to the automatic mode at 24°C is an ideal option for effective and comfortable cooling, according to Bin Shafar. 'This process ensures low pressure on the district cooling network, leading to more efficient energy use and lower consumption bills,' he explained.

Given Empower's consistent efforts to promote energy efficiency and sustainability, the company's initiatives align well with Dubai's broader environmental goals. However, investors should consider the current market conditions and the company's future prospects before making any investment decisions.
